Refining Moments

Well it depends.  One definition of a successful retirement is:  The ability to live in a manner in which I am accustomed whether or not I choose to work.  If this Walmart greeter is in good health, enjoys the social interaction and benefits from the extra earnings (gifts for their grandchildren, etc.,) then this is an absolute portrait of success! If however; this Walmart employee is consistently fatigued, in physical and emotional pain, striving to put food on their table, then probably not what most of us would envision as retirement success.  Keep in mind, we should not be aiming for retirement purely from a financial perspective, we must aim for a life of “Refinement.” ERM - PRM - FRM

Walmart Greeter - A Portrait of Retirement Success?

With a little extra thought & planning, you can experience a weekend that truly refreshes you for the week ahead and more importantly, keeps you on the right track for years to come.  What went right?  What can be improved upon from the previous week?  Think in terms of financial, emotional/spiritual, and physical.  Don’t delay and plan a positive activity in each vital category.  Example:  Plan an extra workout that gives you an opportunity to relate and interact with others.  Pack and share a healthy meal (saves money and health expenses down the road). And by all means - Get enough sleep!  TGIF

Four Principles of Tebow Leadership (Tebowship)

Are you Tebowing everyday? - “Tebowing” or dropping down to one knee while offering up a prayer of gratitude has become a worldwide phenomenon.  While I can’t say for certain what Tim Tebow is actually saying, I am confident his prayer at the end of the game includes: thanksgiving for his talent, the venue, all those that make the game possible, blessings for his teammates and his competition.  There is a lesson here for all of us, if you are truly passionate with an all-consuming desire to win, you will continually demonstrate an attitude of gratitude. Tebowship Principle #4:  Embrace a daily attitude of gratitude

If you build it, they will follow - Sure, Tim Tebow has his critics but all will have to admit he is building his unique brand and his fan base is growing.  If no one is questioning at least some of your actions and your fan base isn’t growing, then you are not leading a winning team.  A winning team will capture the attention of others. Tebowship Principle #3:  Move forward & grow your fan base

Four Principles of Tebow Leadership (Tebowship) #3

Do you want to look good or do you want to win? - It has been stated on numerous occasions that Tim Tebow simply wants to win.  Can the same be said about you, or are more concerned with looking good so you play it safe?  Anyone can say they want to win… Tebowship Principle #2:  Passion and action speak louder than words

“This is a competitive dude; he never lays his sword down.” - John Fox, Denver Broncos Coach - Is he a Quarterback or is he a Running Back? - The days of adhering to one job description only, are over.  Tim Tebow is right there, in the game, for every play.  So are you a leader, a supervisor, or a front-line worker?  The fact is, you are all three and your team needs to know you are ready to play in the game right along side them, running, blocking and tackling, if necessary.  If you are not just a bit roughed up by the end of the day, you didn’t play in the game. Tebowship Principle #1:  Develop a multiple job description - play in the game mindset

Four Principles of Tebow Leadership (Tebowship)

Did you ever know of a successful businessperson or executive that didn’t seem to have a care in the world?  Financially, they were set.  But truth be told, nobody cared.  They lost their spouse; the respect of their children, if their money disappeared so would their friends and associates.  Or, they ignored their health to the point that they were the next heart attack waiting to happen. Well, it doesn’t have to be that way - By incorporating a daily process of refinement (emotionally, physically, financially), we can live life to the fullest - A life on purpose.
